the perks of being a wallflower
one of the few books i actually read. it was one of my all time faves, too. i mean i haven’t read many…so that isn’t saying much…but i actually think i read it more than once….teach it!
this is one of my all time favorite books and as someone who has taught middle school and now works with high school students…i am not sure, i guess it depends on the class and your comfort level with them…it does cover a lot of sensitive subjects and you would know your students the best, so i would go with your gut..not really that helpful i guess…but i would have loved my teacher to read this book with me, not just on my own like i did when it came out.
I am seriously having a struggle with whether or not I will teach this WONDERFUL novel for the 4th year in a row. Last year I had a hell of an experience teaching it which really made me reconsider why I teach. Read a really slanted account of the story here (note: there is very little of a factual account in this local TV news story aside from my name. If you’ve read the book, you know).
I know there are fans of the book here on Tumblr… is it worth it?
